As a newly purchased property, the owners of this home were keen to extend and renovate the residence before they moved in. They were attracted to the house because of its traditional architectural features but they wanted to ensure that their new home would also meet the demands of 21st century living. Their specific requirements of the extension included the addition of an ensuite to the main bedroom, a family bathroom, a European-style laundry, increased storage as well as an open-plan living area. An alfresco area that seamlessly connected to the backyard was also on the wish list. The home is now characterised by its sense of light and flow. The spaces are fluid yet functional, and while being contemporary in its overall ‘feel’, the house cleverly meets the conditions of the heritage overlay.
